CGGC wins the bid for the Baihetan Hydropower Station

April 14 celebrated the success of CGGC in bidding for the Right-bank Project of Baihetan Hydropower Station.

Located in Ningnan County of Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County of Yunan Province, the station is the second cascade hydropower station built on the main stream of the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, designed mainly for power generation with other functions such as flood control, sedimentation of sand, improvement of downstream navigation conditions, and development of reservoir-area water transportation.

When completed, it will be China’s second largest hydropower station, only next to the Three Gorges Hydropower Station. It adopts a 289m-high double-curvature arch concrete dam whose crest elevation is 834m, crest width is 13m and maximum base width is 72m. With a normal water level of 825.0m, the reservoir has a total capacity of 20.627 billion cubic meter.
