An inaugural half marathon is set to hit the road in Dianshan Lake town of Kunshan city, Jiangsu province on Oct 15.

Hosted by Dianshan Lake town tourism authority, the events include a half marathon and a 4.6-kilometer joy run. Some 2,000 runners from home and abroad are expected to take part in the event.

Carrying the apt theme of 'chasing the sunset', the races will start at 3:30 pm, with the route traversing the lake's picturesque views and many city landmarks.

Huanhu Avenue will act as the start and finish line for the event.

After the races, runners and spectators will be able to enjoy a range of activities including entertainment, recreation and catering.

In the recent years, Suzhou city, which oversees Kunshan, has held a series of marathons, such as the Jinji Lake International Half Marathon and Taihu International Marathon. "We are proud to be the newest member of the Suzhou marathon family," said a tourism official.
