Xishan district is located in the east of Wuxi and southeast of Jiangsu, with an area of 399 square kilometers and a permanent population of 700,000. It is in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, 128 kilometers from Shanghai and 177 kilometers from Nanjing.
It consists of four towns, five sub-districts, the Xishan Economic Development Zone and the Xidong new city business district.
It is a transportation hub connecting with the Shanghai-Ningbo Highway, Wuxi-Zhangjiagang Highway, Wuxi-Jiangyin Highway, Wuxi-Nantong Expressway, National Expressway 312 and Beijing-Shanghai Railway.
Xishan is a cultural and historical district with many picturesque landscapes. It is the birthplace of the ancient Wu county, featuring the ancient town on the riverside and twin cultural heritages of Wu songs and Wuxi opera.
