The provincial sanitary assessment panel announced Dandong as the winner of the title "Most Sanitary City" on Sept 15. Dandong scored 94.36, higher than the evaluation standard of 90 points.

The evaluation team inspected the management of the city's health organization, urban environmental sanitation, environmental protection, sanitation of public places and water and food safety, in accordance with the Liaoning Sanitary City Evaluation Criteria between September 13 and 15.

Dandong city takes its sanitation seriously as has held many activities to promote cleanliness among local citizens.

Dandong will take advantage of its position as host to the 2013 National Games and the 2014 Liaoning Games, in order to continue its sanitary management work and develop itself into a national sanitary city.
