On the morning of December 16, “Modern Marine Sciences and Marine Economy” National Postdoctoral Academic Forum was held at the Academic Exchange Center of Qingdao’s Ocean University of China (OUC). The forum aims to set up a postdoctoral academic exchange platform as well as to standardize postdoctoral academic exchange activities and improve the quality of postdoctoral education.

The theme of the forum is “Modern Marine Sciences and the Marine Economy” and gives full play to the advantages Qingdao has in having concentrated its universities and research institutions in the marine sector. It aims to set up a postdoctoral academic exchange platform, encouraging academics to serve local communities and help further accelerate the development of the Shandong Peninsula economic area.

According to one of the official organizers, the forum received 68 academic papers submitted by 73 postdoctoral researchers from seven universities and research institutions in the marine field. The papers relate to topics such as marine biology, and marine equipment manufacturing. 54 postdoctoral researchers attended the forum carrying out a lively academic exchange.

The forum invited Academician Hou Baorong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Oceanology, Academician Lei Qilin from the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, and Academician Mai Kangsen from the OUC to make academic reports titled "Development of Marine Economy and Corrosion Protection Technology”, “My Scientific Practice and Approach” and “Nutritional Strategy for Low-carbon Aquaculture”, respectively. The three academicians made frontier reports on national and international development status and future prospects of marine corrosion protection, industrialized aquaculture and low-carbon aquaculture, and expressed their hopes that the country’s hundreds of doctoral researchers would dedicate themselves fully to research.
