Chengyang district is located in the north of Qingdao. It borders Laoshan district to the east, Licang district to the south, Jiaozhou Bay and Jiaozhou city to the west, and Jimo city to the north.

It has a maximum width of 41.5 kilometers from east to west, a maximum length of 24 kilometers from north to south, and a coastline of 78 kilometers. Maodao island is the district’s only uninhabited island, which has an area of 19,667 square meters. The district occupies an area of 553.2 square kilometers with a population of 481,500, and administers 8 streets and 242 communities.

Nearly 40 Fortune 500 companies have opened office in the district, various industries including electronic information, machine manufacturing, fine chemicals, textile, food, new materials, and marine biology are developing into an industrial cluster. Chengyang has won several honors including the “national culture advanced district”, “national technology advanced district”, and “national ecological demonstration zone”.
