It is surrounded by the sea on the east, west and south. The average annual temperature is 12 C. The shoreline spans 50 kilometers. The western shoreline spans 28 kilometers, and the available shoreline is 15 kilometers. The average depth of water is 4 meters, and the maximum depth of water is 13 meters. The eastern shoreline is 22 kilometers long. Available shoreline is 12 kilometers. The average depth of water is 6 meters. The off-shore depth of water ranges from 10 meters to 14 meters. So far, more than 30 shipping enterprises have settled in the zone and surrounding areas. The Qingdao Yangfan shipbuilding project has been financed with 1.6 billion yuan ($258.7 million), mainly producing large and medium-sized military vessels, luxury cruise ships, and 5 tons of high value-added civil transport ships. The annual output of the project may reach 4 billion yuan. The masters shipbuilding project is financed with $9.88 million, mainly producing oil tankers under 10 tons, ships with good capabilities and special ships like container ships.
