The Peking Opera Theater, in the city of Qingdao, Shandong province, got an excellent organization award at the 5th Shandong Red Plum Opera Competition, on Dec 10, and a 1st Prize in the team category, with its director, Guo Jianqing, saying that the award was a clear indication of the excellent training of the young performers and a show of their strength.

Sponsors of the competition were the provincial Publicity Department and Shandong Federation of Literature and Art.

The theater has worked hard to cultivate the performers by choosing excellent students from the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts, the Shanghai Theater Academy and Shandong University of the Arts and by providing them with many opportunities to show their talent, which in turn brings vigor to the theater.
