Visitors to the Qingdao International Beer Festival should not miss the opportunity to do a little showing off while enjoying beer in the eastern coastal city.

Auditions for the beer drinking competition, a traditional feature of the annual festival, are underway at Qingdao's Golden Beach through Aug 20.

For only 10 yuan ($1.50), anyone over 18 can enter the competition from afternoon to night. The fastest one to drink up a bottle of beer will win an award of 50,000 yuan, with another 64,000 yuan divided among the remaining participants.

The winners will have the opportunity to fight for the title of national beer drinking champion with other winners nationwide and to win rich bonuses on August 26.
