Qingyuan is a famous tourist destination 80 kilometers away from Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province, and well known for its Feilai Gorge drifting. It is preferred by many residents of Guangzhou and neighboring cities for drifting, because of its convenient traffic conditions.

Feilai Gorge drifting is located in the well-known Feilai Gorge scenic zone. The drifting site is connected to the Beijiang River. It joins up with Feixia ancient cave, Feilai Islet resort, Lixi Fengsheng ancient temple, Yingde Baojing Palace, Tea Garden and Yingxi Summit.

Feilai Gorge drifting is renowned for being “high, fast and exciting.” There are two drifting watercourses—whole-course drifting and warrior drifting—both 5.6 kilometers long.

The “drifting in the air” section has a total drop of 80 meters, with the biggest drop length stretching 300 meters and the longest drop length of 100 meters. It is further divided into three sections–Fall Warrior Drifting, Passion Bravery Drifting and Dynamic Sandy Beach Drifting. The three sections of the Feilai Gorge drifting demonstrate diversified features and bring about different experiences for tourists.

The first section of the drifting is exceptionally thrilling. The drifting starts at the headstream of the reservoir, with a total fall of 80 meters. Therefore, the first section has the biggest fall, and is most difficult and exciting. The water falls down vertically, and the tourist feels as if they are dropping in midair as quick as a flash. People can only feel that kind of sensation by personally taking the drift.

The second section is most suitable for relaxing the body and mind as well as experiencing the wild in the mountainous streams. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful scenery or play with water.

The third section is the Warrior Drifting, a test of courage. The water fall in this section is not so great, but there are as many as 20 more turbulent rivers and treacherous shoals. The rubber boat can take off very quickly. Tourists only need to shut their eyes, grasp the handle, and experience the infinite joys of “drifting in the air” as they scream.
