About the city
Ryde City is close to the Olympic Village in Sydney and is an important high-tech park in the Sydney region. With an area of 40.5 square kilometers and a population of 95,000, the city is noted for its quiet environment and beautiful scenery and is a fine destination for recreation.
Establishment of friendly relations
Introduced by Mr. Wu Keming, Chinese consul general to Sydney, Ryde Mayor Edna Wilde sent a letter to the district of Jiading in the first half of 2000, indicating the wish for friendly exchanges. On July 27, 2001, the two sides signed the Agreement on Friendly Exchanges and Cooperation between Jiading District of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Ryde City of New South Wales State of Australia.
