Xiaohekou Ginkgo Garden, which is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Tacheng Road and Xicheng Henan Street in Jiading town, Jiading district, is one of the most popular pocket parks in Shanghai.
Covering an area of 4,500 square meters, the garden is renowned for having 10 ancient ginkgo trees that are over 200 years old.
Boasting the charm of Jiangnan-style classical gardens, the small garden is renowned for its plant landscaping. It is also equipped with curved corridors, flower halls, pavilions, and pools. To the north, there is a group of ginkgo trees surrounded by stone fences. A small square is on the north side of the park with seats and other leisure facilities.
"I live nearby. It takes me only five minutes to walk here. I come here every morning and evening to enjoy the cool temperatures here," said a local resident.
"Many visitors come to the garden for the beauty of the ginkgo trees in autumn," said another local resident surnamed Zhang.
In recent years, Jiading town has built a number of pocket parks for residents to relax, exercise, and be entertained.
Differing from big parks that take a large area of land, pocket parks are small open spaces in the city.
