The Ministry of Science and Technology recently approved an application from the Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co to set up a key national laboratory for working on advanced stainless steel materials. According to ministry experts, the lab will play an important role in key industrial technology innovation, improve technology, and further combine production and research.
The initial spending is 260 million yuan, for infrastructure and the purchase of instruments and equipment. Taiyuan Iron & Steel is working on improving all aspects of management of the lab, which has already accepted 19 national and provincial scientific research programs, obtained 12 patents, helped drafting one national industrial standard, and earned 10 national and provincial science awards.
