At a US-Shanxi Investment and Cooperation Conference, in the city of Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, on April 14, United States and Shanxi companies were able to reach some cooperation agreements, with Shanxi province commerce bureau officials saying that they hope more American companies can come to Shanxi for joint work in energy, modern coal chemicals, and energy-saving and environmental protection, and noting that Shanxi companies need to be more active in foreign investment to improve their international operations.
This investment and cooperation conference is sponsored by the provincial commerce bureau and the US embassy in China. This is its third year and it pulled in officials from the US embassy, senior executives of prominent American companies and people in charge of the US-Sino energy project, as well as people from 15 Shanxi companies in the energy business.
