Tourists enjoy the scenery of the Great Wall built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) in Datong, Shanxi province, on Aug 12. There are two sections of the Great Wall in Xinrong district. Desheng Castle in the district was the largest surviving fortress from the Ming Dynasty for stationing troops in China, and a vital site for trade with Mongolia and Russia during ancient times.
