Two Shanxi construction projects – Xiangning People’s Hospital and technology research and development center of China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group recently won the Luban Prize, China top construction and engineering award for quality.
Built by Shanxi No 2 Construction Group Co, Xiangning People's Hospital on the south side of Yingxu Street, located in Xiangning county, Linfen city is a modern hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research and education.
With a construction area of 61,300 square meters and 500 beds, the hospital treats around 1,500 patients each day, and provides coverage for 600,000 people. Its opening has greatly improved healthcare in the local area.
The firm paid meticulous attention to the construction process, ensuring that the hospital was built to the highest of standards. The building is specially designed to maintain a constant temperature and minimize humidity and noise in its clean areas.
The 176.39-meter-high China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Technology R&D Center, with a construction area of 67,768 square meters is a modern comprehensive building integrating official business, scientific research and commercial functions. The gradient octagon tube design with vertical decorative lines has made the center one of the landmark buildings of Taiyuan city.
During the building process, the company paid careful attention to the management of the project. The building’s steel structures, which weigh 2,800 tons, are extremely well-made –– with the pass rate of first-grade welding reaching 100 percent.
Both projects are notable for their achievements in energy conservation, environmental protection, the application of new technology, quality control, and engineering quality.
And the province's construction industry continues to go from strength to strength, with the output value of the construction industry in Shanxi exceeding 400 billion yuan ($59.66 billion) for the first time, and five projects winning National Quality Engineering Awards in the past year.
