Datong improving its environment

The city of Datong, Shanxi province, has been working to cut pollution and improve its ecology in recent years, with the government promoting energy saving, municipal construction improvements, and afforestation, with some significant changes to the environment.
This past year, for example, it added 1.74 million square meters of green areas, bringing the per capita amount 13.12 square meters, which has helped it to become a national "New Energy Demonstration City", "Environmental Protection City", and "Garden city".
