Shanxi historic building sketches all the rage on China's social media

A group of freehand drawings of Shanxi's historic buildings by the painter Lian Da, from Dalian city of Northeast China's Liaoning province, are popular on WeChat's "moments", winning many "likes" for their unique expression of Lian's love for these ancient cultural treasures.

"Shanxi boasts the largest number of historic buildings still in existence, and this is the place I yearn for," he said, adding that he was overwhelmed at first sight by the traditional beauty and primitive simplicity of Shanxi's historic buildings that have lasted for hundreds of years.
