The IGCC model power station of Huaneng was launched in Tianjin Harbor Industrial Park, which is China's first self-innovated, designed, manufactured and constructed IGCC(Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) model project. This marks China's substantial progress for the "Green Coal" Program with self intellectual property rights and modern clean coal technology.

The IGCC model power station of Huaneng in Tianjin is a major part of the 1st phase of "Green Coal" Program, which is also a key program of national high-tech projects. The first 250,000 Kwh generation unit will be put into operation in 2011.

IGCC is the most green coal-fired power generation technology in the world. Huaneng's project is the first in China. After the completion of it, the power station will become the most environmentally friendly coal-fired power station in China, whose power generation efficiency and desulfurization efficiency may reach 48% and exceed 99% respectively. The emission of Nitrogen oxides will be only 15%-20% of normal power station.
