A movie show including fountains, music and lights will be held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium, nicknamed the “Water drop”, on September 29. International bands from Austria and other countries will also perform on the night.

The show will be organized by a Beijing sports culture company, which has signed a 25-year-long cooperation contract with Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium.

According to the contract, Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium will hold different kinds of high-level sports events and entertainment programs. Half of the facilities in the stadium will be available to local citizens beginning in October 2010. Some catering and shopping stores will also be introduced into the stadium.

The "water drop" covers an area of 78,000 square meters and has a building surface area of 158,000 square meters. It can accommodate 60,000 spectators and can host international soccer games and track and field meets.

It also features a recycled water system, a water heating and cooling system that relies on the artificial lakes surrounding it, a solar energy collection system, natural water purifying system, and a fiber optic communications system. It also features a marketplace, exhibition hall, conference room, gym, and international sports exchange center.
