Taiwan and Beijing's fast-train to Tianjin were China's two top destinations for this past weekend's May Day holiday. This, according to figures released by a group of Tianjin-based tour companies.

Travel experts say upwards of 300-thousand Tianjinese hope to visit Taiwan in the near future. The new high-speed train from Beijing is making Tianjin itself a popular vacation destination as well.

One is Taiwan sees a stable increase in tourist arrivals. The other is our city has gone through tremendous changes in recent years. Tianjin, as a tourist destination, would become more and more popular because of the high-speed railway, the 350-kph beijing-tianjin route and the Beijing suburbs featured sightseeing.

The Tianjin Tourist Bureau says the number of tourists was expected to exceed one million in Tianjin, even though the May Day holiday only lasts three days.
