Lift bicycle to climb the Golden Hall

On the morning of April 13, a group of seven people began their journey with their beloved bicycles. The woman who gathered the group, surnamed Yang, lifted her bike to the top of the mountain.

Yang is a 29-year-old female, white-collar worker in Shiyan city, Hubei province. She is passionate about cycling. Yang heard the story of her friend, 43-year-old Ru Feng, accidentally riding his bicycle on to the Wudang Mountain, which has no pathways suitable to ride. Ru was forced to lift his bike to tour the scenic spot.

Yang was tempted to accomplish this challenge, as well.

As a local resident in Wudang Mountain area, she felt it necessary to climb the mountain with her bicycle. On April 9, 2011, Yang posted a recruitment notice online, which almost immediately received responses.

From the "Longmen" mere stone, the road became increasingly rough. Yang regretted her decision only 15 minutes after lifting her bicycle.

At three in the afternoon, the group finally reached Taihe Palace of the Golden Hall. The road between the ticket office and the Golden Hall was so precipitous that they had to crawl upwards with their bicycles for half an hour.

"I have lived at the foot of Wudang Mountain for almost 30 years, but this is the first time I have climbed to the summit of the mountain, and in this particular way," she said. In the evening, Yang was exhausted with stiff, swollen legs.

In early May 2012, Zhao Qian, the director of the television program "Taihe Wudang", happened to read the story on Yang’s Sina mirco-blog. He invited her to join them for a shoot with her friends.

It took a full day to shoot a segment that would only last a few minutes, as they had to ride repeatedly on the same road with all their strength.

"It has been a while since last time I practiced, so I have to exert all of my energy," Yang said.

The program is expected to air in October 2012 on CCTV.
