Tourists flow into Wudang on National Tourism Day

May 19 was the third National Tourism Day in China. With half-off ticket prices at 70 yuan ($11.29) a piece, the Wudang Mountains had received more than 13,000 tourists by 3 pm in the afternoon.

All scenic spots were kept in good order. Backup plans such as limiting the number of tickets were also prepared. Staff in related departments gave up their holidays to provide good services and maintain order in the spots. Tourist shuttles were also added.

Staff in the Tourism Command Center of the Wudang Mountains closely monitored the situation in each spot, including the ticket hall and tourist center, through their electronic monitoring system, fully complying with their promise to satisfy all tourists.

Local authorities have made considerable efforts to improve tourist experiences. Aside from the newly-constructed Wudang International Martial Arts Center, Wudang Geological Museum and Tourism Development Center, a series of characteristic tourism products were recently launched. These include martial arts performances in Xiaoyao Valley and intangible culture performances featuring tea-making, Taoism and religious rites.
