Wudang receives visitors from Shandong

On April 14, the first tourist train, jointly operated by Wudang Mountains in Hubei and Linyi, Shandong province, arrived at Wudang Mountains, marking a breakthrough in the tourism market of Shandong.

In the rainy morning, over 400 tourists arrived at Wudang Mountains. Upon their arrival, the visitors were soon infected by the local hospitality along with the deafening sound of gongs and drums, and some of them even joined the yangko dance.

Apparently, the rain, instead of dampening the tourists’ enthusiasm, brought them closer to Wudang Mountains. “I have wanted to see the beauty of Wudang ever since I watched its spectacular sights in the documentary ‘Taoism and Wudang Mountains’ and learned about its culture. Today’s rain is indeed the utmost blessing from Xuanwu Emperor, water god of this mountain,” said a visitor surnamed Wang.

According to local authorities, this was the second tourist group to Wudang, with the first being from Chongqing. More group tours are expected. Next month, a group tour from Beijing will visit, for the “Tour of showing gratitude to the river source”.

In addition to the individual tourist market, which is seen as an advantage, the special group tours are expected to bring great fortune to the area, owing to successful publicity campaigns in Chongqing, Shandong and Beijing, among others.
