New tourism area in Wudang Mountains

Located northwest of the city proper of Wudang Mountains, Wudang Tai Chi Lake ecological and cultural tourism area involves over 100 top designers from top-notch international planning and design institutions, including EDAW and Atkins.

Since the start of construction in August 2008, many projects have been completed, including the Wudang Tourism Development Center, Wudang International Kung Fu Communication Center, Zhongjing Tai Chi Lake International Resort, Tai Chi Theatre, Wudang Geological Museum and Shanshui Street.

Some municipal infrastructures such as the 9.34-km lakeside road, three bridges, one dam and other supporting projects were also completed.

Surrounded by beautiful mountains and waters, the new tourism area features leisure and well-being with the idea of environment protection and a rich heritage of Wudang culture. Diverse forestation and landscaping have been completed around the lake.

Construction projects in the area, whether they be public facility, residential area, commercial district or city park, are all being done with delicate designs and layout, which not only reflects the spirit of ancient Chinese architecture,but also a European style. The Wudang International Kung Fu Communication Center, also known as Wudang Gymnasium, boasts an elegant appearance with curved lines and surfaces.

Combined with nine pyramidal glass at the top, the building aims for the appearance of harmony and highlights Wudang culture, which has earned it the nickname of “Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) of Wudang”.
