Art exhibition proving popular

Families in Beijing have a new interesting place to visit - 300 Olympic sculptures on display at the China Millennium Monument in the western part of the city.
The exhibition runs until Sunday. Since June, the exhibition has been staged in more than 20 Chinese mainland cities, Hong Kong, Seoul, South Korea, and Los Angeles, United States.
It has won high praise and acclaim.
The exhibition is also scheduled for Lausanne, Switzerland, Rome, Italy, Barcelona, Spain, Sydney, and Wellington, New Zealand.
"The exhibition is making a Long March around the globe'," Zou Wen, secretary general of the exhibition's organizing committee, said.
The sculptures were chosen from more than 2,400, submitted by artists from 82 countries and regions.
"They are diversified in style and portray the Olympic spirit," Zou said.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is a sculpture featuring 360 figures playing cuju, an early form of football which became popular during China's Warring States Period (475-221 BC).
Football's governing body, Fdration Internationale de Football Association, in 2004 officially acknowledged that China was the birthplace of football.
Horses and carts are also included in the sculpture because cuju was first used to train military cavaliers due to its fierce nature.
"The figures and horses look so cute and alive, and it makes people smile just looking at them," Liao Yingpin, a father who took his 7-year-old son to the exhibition on Sunday, said.
"These works of art are so original. They are wonderful for families to enjoy," he said.
