Hohhot is an ideal place to relax away from modern day pressure. There are plenty of cultural attractions in Hohhot, which is one of the most important distribution centers for its accessibility from all directions.
Laoniu Bay has typical characteristics of the Loess Plateau landform, it's the only confluence of the Yellow River and the Great Wall. The Yellow River flows southward through Laoniu Bay, while the Yangjiachuan River, which originates inQingshuihe County, flows into the Yellow River there. The converging forms take the shape of an ox head, and the two rivers are just like the horns of the ox, hence the name Laoniu Bay.
Hadamen Alpine Meadow is at the northern foot of Daqing Mountain and is 27 kilometers away from urban Hohhot. The wild profusion of vegetation and the flourishing meadow make it a cool place in the sweltering summer. You can ride a horse, feel the beauty of the grassland, or you can wander through the woods, enjoying fantastic leisure time.
Daqing Mountain is situated in the middle section of Yin Mountain and the northern part of Hohhot. It is the major section of Yinshan Mountains, with the best-preserved parts of mountain forest and shrub-grassland landscape. What's more, Daqing Mountain is the most concentrated area for bio-diversity in Yin Mountain. The blue sky and the trees there can really make you relaxed.
There is a ancient white pagoda rising straight from the ground in the wide flats east of Hohhot, the Ten Thousand Huayan Scriptures Pagoda. Owing to the white surface, it is also called the "White Pagoda". Exactly when it was built is still a mystery; it is said that the pagoda was built between 983-1031. Suviving year after year, the White Pagoda is one of the Eight Sights of Hohhot.
As the capital of Inner Mongolia, Hohhot has distinctive flavors such as Mongolian milchigs, Mongolian hand-taking meat and Mongolian pasta. In addition to the milchigs, meat products are also tasty and nutritious.
Hohhot has a northern-based diet, which combines the Mongolian way and Hui way of making and eating food. A Mongolian meal could be the most representative one between them. Besides, Hui snacks are also very hot in Hohhot. There is a Hui snacks street in the east, an Islamic-style street, in which there are kebabs, sumai and so on. With so many delicacies there, you will enjoy yourself so much you might forget to leave.
