A graduate from an ordinary college in Anyang, central China's Henan province, has failed to find a job despite having about 65 certificates that include academic awards. Comments:
Undeniably some employers prefer applicants with a glamorous education background. However, whether job hunters can acquire a decent job depends on their own capabilities. Hence, the student's 65 certificates are not solid evidence supporting the conclusion that where one studied outweighs another's abilities when seeking a job.

Some employers' obsession with graduates from top universities is actually rooted in the administrative ranking of Chinese universities, whose administrative power and financial support are assigned accordingly. It is thus no surprise that even those self-proclaimed non-discriminative companies treat the job seekers differently based on where they have graduated from.

The report highlighting the Anyang graduate's 65 certificates is misleading to some extent, because on one hand, the number of certificates is not so convincing regarding their issuers, and some can even be purchased in the "certificate market". On the other, even authentic certificates of this kind do not guarantee a promising career for their owners, who are just wasting their time if their "hard-won" qualifications are of no use to their personal and professional improvement.
