My wife is a Chinese and I am an American. In China she feels safe going out to shop on her own, but she would never take a walk by herself here in the US. This kind of thing seldom happens in China. But just in case, do not stay in the dark area when it is too late at night. Try to go somewhere together with your friends. When sexual harassment occurs keep calm and try to think a way to escape. Remember life is the most important thing.

I’ve lived in China for quite a considerable time including my graduate school years, travelled and worked in a few cities and still choose my destination taking into consideration the density of smog or PM2.5 particulate matter in the region.
