XI'AN - Smiles of around 500 female volunteers melted the icy?winter morning, in Xi'an in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, Dec 3, 2011.

They gathered at Northwestern Polytechnical University to attend a meeting?commending the model volunteers?by Shaanxi Provincial Women's Federation and Red Phoenix Project,the country's first charity organization to help female undergraduates.

Over the past 15 years, it has helped?more than 3,880 impoverished female undergraduates in the province to accomplish their higher education in 241 universities across China.?

Those students now are doing their part to aid the younger generations so as?to reciprocate the society'e help.

Zhou Yufeng, chairman of Shaanxi Provincial Women's Federation, said?that they will help more people and spread the priceless love to every household.

During the meeting, about 20 university squads of Red Phoenix Project were awarded for their excellent work and cooperation with Shaanxi Provincial Women's Federation in helping people in need,including mentally retarded children, left-behind children and elderly people.

Hou Gaihong, one of the 110 model volunteers, delivered a moving speech, recalling her first time to help tender an 80-year-old woman. She treated her as her own mother. She also called for more kind-hearted citizens to engage in this meaningful cause.

"Helping others to enjoy yourself", said Wang Tianqi, an active undergraduate volunteer who joined Red Phoenix Project over 2 years ago.?He said he?could realize his self-value when those people in need show a glaring smile for volunteers' help.

During the ceremony, an 8-year-old boy sang a special song and received a lasting applause.

The boy who used to be an autistic child now study in a normal public school due to the "hand-in-hand" special education of his parents and teachers.

Because of love, the road ahead of him will not be too bumpy. So will other children in the similar situation as the love stays with them.
