The ninth Biomaterials Congress was recently held in Chengdu in Sichuan province, home of the giant pandas. It is the world's leading event in the biomaterials field.

More than 3,000 experts, scholars, scientists, and entrepreneurs from 57 countries and regions are gathering in China for the first time.

"It's a wonderful conference, and I think it's one of?the best world congresses I've taken part in", Nicholas Peppas told China Daily, chairman of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Sciences and Engineering.

He added that the buildings and facilities in the city are exceptional and the hospitality of the Chinese and the support of the government left him with a great impression. "People here, especially young volunteers are enthusiastic."

After only a few days, the guests of the congress were fully captivated by the city. Scenic spots, cultural relics and renowned food are spread broadly over Chengdu's map.

After the congress, many guests visited this city. They saw pandas in the Giant Panda Base, north of Chengdu. In addition, the Dujiangyan Dam, constructed in 256 BC and one of the oldest irrigation systems in the world, also attracted visitors.

Guests also visited Jiuzhaigou Valley, a natural scenic spot on the world heritage list.

In terms of cuisine, Chengdu is well known for its spicy food. Hotpot and other Sichuan cooking, such as "Kung Pao Chicken" and "Mapo Beancurd" left visitors with unforgettable memories.

The lifestyle in Chengdu is slow and the local people are joyful. Even around midnight, many restaurants are crowed with groups of friends eating and drinking.

No wonder there has a sentence saying "Chengdu, once you come here, you will not want to leave."
