Chengdu releases nation's first mobile Internet HR report

The Mobile Internet Society in Chengdu's high-tech zone issued a human resource report on Chengdu's mobile Internet industry on April 10, providing references for the development of the mobile Internet industry in the zone.

The report, the first of its kind in China, is based on questionnaires sent to 500 employees in 40 enterprises in Chengdu's mobile Internet industry.

Chengdu has gathered 500 enterprises and 20,000 employees in the mobile Internet industry, according to the report. Half of the mobile Internet enterprises were established in the past three years.

Zhang Zhenggang, secretary general of the Mobile Internet Society of Chengdu, believes that the mobile Internet industry in Chengdu will continue its fast development due to a series of incentives by the high-tech zone.

The Chengdu high-tech zone set a goal in 2012 to nurture more than 1,000 mobile Internet enterprises and bring in about 100,000 professionals by 2017.

The report shows that about half of the employees earn more than 5,000 yuan ($807.50) a month. Roughly 4.9 percent of them have a monthly salary of more than 10,000 yuan. Senior executives and qualified technicians are earning more and are catching up with the income level of China's first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The universities and colleges in the area also provide a large pool of talent for mobile Internet firms. About 82.5 percent of employees in the mobile industry have a bachelor's degree or higher, and 79.4 percent of enterprises can meet their staff recruitment needs.

Forty percent of the employees work more than 50 hours a week, shows the report. Seven out of 10 feel occupational stress or exhaustion.

Despite the hard work and stress, 70 percent of the employees are confident about the mobile Internet industry. Only 8.6 percent of them would like to change to another industry, the report said.
