Located in the XITLP, Xi'an Highway Port covers a planned area of 14.6 square kilometers and has a total investment of 20 billion yuan. Its first-stage project covers an area of more than 200 hectares and has an investment of 3.8 billion yuan.
It is one of the three supporting platforms of the XITLP. It is also a national large-scale road transport hub and modern integrated logistics park. The highway port was among the key construction projects listed by the Ministry of Transport's plan on transport development during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). It was also identified as one of the important stations by the Shaanxi provincial government in the province's overall Xixian national highway hub. Xi'an Highway Port forms its core business around information transaction. Its advanced highway transportation system can connect with international logistics firms and many other means of transportation. The port acts as a comprehensive hub for highways to connect road logistics with railways, shipping and air transportation.
Its main functions cover international logistics, information exchange, drop and pull transport, transportation coordination, logistics distribution, vehicle dispatch, dining and relaxation, leisure and entertainment, exhibition, and logistics research and training.
Xi'an Highway Port has an obvious advantage in transportation. It is just 5 kilometers from the new address of the Xi'an municipal government. It is next to Yaocun Airport and 28 kilometers away from Xianyang International Airport. Xi'an Highway Port also connects with the city's transportation system. It is linked with the ring roads and main streets in Xi'an by highways around the city. It can easily reach secondary logistics centers and distribution centers, which constitute an internal logistics network within the city.
It aims to grow into a modern highway transportation hub with the most comprehensive transport service capabilities. It seeks to have the most competitive service advantages and widest brand influence in Central and West China. It hopes to build a multi-functional logistics service park, including partitioned parking for vehicles, an information platform, and warehousing and distribution facilities.
Xi'an Highway Port will become the main cluster for logistics enterprises and logistics information with the help of other transportation in the Xi'an Railway Container Center Station and Xianyang International Airport. It will become China's command center for its highway transportation system, information processing and publishing center, logistics distribution center and passenger transport hub.
Development of construction
Xi'an Highway Port covers a planned area of 14.6 square kilometers. It is planned to be completed in two phases. The first phase will last from 2010 to 2013, and the second phase will extend all the way from 2013 to 2018. According to the plan, the project will include one core CBD, two expanded functional areas (one auto vehicle exhibition area and one ecological recreation and leisure service area), and 11 highway ports.
In the first construction phase, a core CBD, an ecological recreation service area, and No 1, No 2 and No 3 highway ports will be completed, covering a total area of 3,000 mu (20 hectares).
The Pentagon will be launched in the CBD, which will function as a comprehensive service building of Xi’an Highway Port. It consists of five independent buildings occupying a gross floor area of 261,300 square meters and a parking area of 462,500 square meters.
The ecological recreation area covers a total area of 355,200 square meters, including an 8,198-square-meter trade exhibition center, a 90,000-square-meter star hotel, a 35,000-square-meter international conference center and a 49,000 square meters business office area. The No 1, No 2 and No 3 highway ports will occupy a total area of about 129,300 square meters and are mainly used for warehousing and logistics operations.
