In 2012, the State Council approved the Readjustment Plan of Zhongguancun Science Park Space and Layout. According to the plan, six more parks would be built. On Feb 26, 2013, Pinggu Park was branded by Chengang, a municipal Party committee member.

The park plans to build three areas, the Xinggu economic development area, Mafang industrial area and Mafang logistics area. It will also build five bases: a food industry base, general aviation base, railway transportation base, music and culture innovation base, and green energy base. Under the principles of complimentary, different and continuing development, the park will take priority to develop 10 important industries, such as food processing, high-tech equipment manufacturing and modern logistics.

Pinggu district, located in the northeast of Beijing, enjoys convenient land, sea and air transportation. Pinggu Park covers an area of 5.08 square kilometers and has a beautiful environment and a long cultural history. Xinggu Incubator Center, Mafang Business Mansion and Yukou New Energy Base in the park can provide support and services for innovation and business projects.

There are many famous enterprises in the park such as Beijing Purkinje General Instrument and China Logistics. They can enjoy preferential policies made by the park and Zhongguancun Science Park.
