Being the heritage site under city protection and the special protection historic architecture in Tianjin, Bohai Building sits at 275~281 Heping Road, Heping District. Now, the building is used as commercial building, covering an area of about 500 square meters, and about 4500 square meters in floor area.
Bohai Building was designed by the French engineering company—Hunke & Muller and built in 1936. It served both for commerce and resident, regarded as the highest and the modernist building in the city and as symbolic construction of the downtown.
This reinforced concrete structure is mainly eight-storied and partially ten-storied. Its walls were finished with brown tile facing, looking more massive and elegant. Vertical format was adopted for its designing, making the building taste highly-erective visually. It is regarded to be in modern style typically.
