An analysis of air pollution sources in the region surrounding China's capital is due to be finished in two months, Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday.
Tianjin and Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, will complete the analysis by the end of June. Beijing released its analysis results earlier this month.
"The results will have an impact on efforts to prevent air pollution," Zhao Yingmin, head of the pollution control department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, was quoted by Xinhua as saying.
The ministry and many other related government departments are working together to control pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
According to a plan for controlling air pollution, issued in September by the State Council, the concentration of fine particulate matter in the region is targeted to fall by about 25 percent by 2017.
In cities nationwide, the concentration of fine particles that can be inhaled and are deemed highly dangerous to health should drop by more than 10 percent, compared with the concentration recorded in 2012.
The capital has introduced a new Pollution Discharge Fee System and a higher standard for vehicle emissions.
China just passed a revised Environmental Protection Law on Thursday.
