Enterprise transformation to cure internal defect

Special steel is one of three core products as well as the first product of IMNHIGC since it was founded in 1954, 60 years ago. However, the special steel company that reaped the most profits for the group has been on decline dramatically in the past few years.

Stale equipment causes frequent breakdowns. The smelting technology and process lag. Employees are not professional enough, and all the above factors directly result in higher costs and weaker market competitiveness for the group’s special steel company.

Therefore, the group made efforts to work out a solution to break the dilemma by implementing two technical renovations and realizing two technical breakthroughs.

The two technical renovations refer to the construction project of the intermediate frequency furnace and the project to enhance the quality and efficiency of the electric furnace.

The two technical breakthroughs refer to achieving a higher utilization ratio of steel tube materials and the overall renovation of the steel refining system.

The special steel company achieved sales revenue of 770 million yuan ($125.22 million). This sleeping giant dragon now towers in the market once again.

To seize opportunities and upgrade the industry

During the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15), China will keep carrying forward the merger and restructuring of coal enterprises. In addition to Shanxi, which has accomplished the integration of most coal resources, provinces including Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi and Shandong will embark on coal resource integration this year. As a result, integrated coal mines bound for technically renovated and updated coal machinery are expected to promote the coal mining equipment manufacturing industry.

In confronting this “spring effect,” the well-prepared IMNHIGC won’t let this good opportunity easily slip away.

Based on the successful R&D of coal mining machinery and scraper conveyor in 2012, IMNHIGC has realized the auxiliary system of "three machine and one support," namely coal mining machine, scraper conveyor, roadheader and hydraulic support, thus providing coal mining enterprises with "one-stop" services of comprehensive coal mining equipment manufacturing.

In 2013, Inner Mongolia’s first mine rescue capsule was assembled in IMNHIGC. The group has become the only company capable of manufacturing such products in Northwest China.

In addition, IMNHIGC extends its scope of business, such as mining design, mine exploitation, equipment models selection, equipment manufacturing and the recycling of scrap materials, to better meet the specific requirements of clients.

At present, large-scale coal enterprises like Yangquan Coal Group and Pingdinshan Coal Group have become loyal clients of North Heavy Group.

IMNHIGC’s products and services were also popular among dozens of electricity and related enterprises like Huaneng, China Guodian, China General Nuclear Power Group and Harbin Boiler Factory.

Moreover, the group has reached strategic cooperative agreements with groups like Datang Zhongshui Group and Dongfang Electric Group in the first half of 2014.

IMNHIGC has seized the leading position of similar products in the fields of electricity, coal and munitions in China. Now it has successfully advanced into such fields as petroleum, chemical engineering, aerospace and aviation.
