Feng Shaoxie's 'Maritime Silk Road' oil paintings on show in Thailand

Renowned oil painter Feng Shaoxie opened his "Maritime Silk Road" exhibition at the National Gallery of Thailand in Bangkok on July 3.

Thailand is the first stop for the exhibition, as part of an overseas tour of the latest themed works by Feng, who is the vice-president of the Guangdong Academy of Painting.

The exhibition forms part of the celebratory activities of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Thai diplomatic relations.

A total of 40 oil paintings are on display at the exhibition, which will last throughout July before moving on to its next stop in Malaysia.

It is the first exhibition to display a series of oil paintings on the theme of the Maritime Silk Road. Many of the paintings touch on the themes of folklore, customs and trade and cultural exchanges along the ancient trade route.

A senior official from the Ministry of Culture of Thailand said that Feng's works not only reflect the beauty of art but also the historical and cultural beauty of the Maritime Silk Road.
