Zhang Haidi: Chinese Team Members of Paralympics Completely Eradicate Cordial

The State Council published Program Scheme of Speeding up the Well-to-do Process of the Disabled during ‘the 13th Five-Year Plan’. On the news conference of the State Council, Zhang Haidi, deputy director of the State Council Disabled Person Work Committee and president of China Disabled Person’s Federation, Lu Yong, deputy president and chairman of China Disabled Person’s Federation, Cheng Kai, deputy chairman of China Disabled Person’s Federation introduced the development conditions of the Chinese disable person cause, illustrated the planning scheme and answered the questions of the reporters. Reporter from China National Radio: President Haidi, you will act as the president of Chinese Delegation for 2016 Rio Paralympics to Rio. What do you expect for the Chinese Delegation in this Paralympics?

Zhang Haidi: Thanks for your concern about the 15th Paralympics. I am not to become the president but have already become the president. Yesterday night, our delegation has flied to Rio and our disabled athletes have made full preparations, hoping to hand in a satisfactory answer sheet for the motherland and the people. The diligent and striving spirits of the disabled encourage us and make us know that as long as you work hard, there is nothing we cannot achieve. It is the significance of the games. We fully expect the Paralympics. And I will go to Rio on September 4 to make efforts with all the team members.

We have proposed many requirements this time. What I want to emphasize is that I have put forward requirements to our athletes from all perspectives on the mobilization conference. As is known to us, the Paralympics athletes of Russia have been forbidden to attend the competition and we are all clear about the cause. We feel so sorry for it. Most importantly, our Chinese delegation must do all the work well. How should the Chinese disabled athletes require themselves in front of cordial? I want to say that we must resolutely eradicate the cordial and attend the competition in a clean state. Our Paralympics athletes should be the real heroes! Each disabled athlete has suffered from pains and owns the decision of surpassing the difficulties as well as the persistent spirits. How can we attain it if we take the cordial? And our disabled athletes are brave and strong. How should their sincere heart that promises to win honor for our motherland and our people be polluted by the cordial? I believe that our athletes are all excellent and each of them should be the warrior who sticks to his dignity.

All in all, we must successfully hold the Paralympics. Finally I want to tell you that we will not let our motherland and the people down. What our athletes and I want to say is that: ‘victory must belong to us!’
