Shenzhen will add 14 temporary bus routes connecting Shenzhen Bay Sports Center and other Games venues during the Universiade.

More than 400 buses would be added to carry spectators between the venues, according to a package transport plan unveiled July 15.

According to the plan, the transport commission will operate 5,246 buses on 198 routes connecting 18 Universiade venues to disperse spectators within 45 minutes of the end of competitions.

More than 76,000 Universiade volunteers may ride free buses and Metro trains until Aug. 31. Vehicles with certificates issued by the Universiade Executive Office will be toll exempt between Aug. 1-26 on the expressways such as Shenzhen sections of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Shenzhen-Shantou, Huizhou-Yantian, Meiguan, Jihe, Yanba, Yanpai and Nanguang expressways.

Public transport and sight-seeing buses will also be free for spectators with Universiade tickets along with private buses.

To encourage the public to use public transport, the commission will add or restore 3,493 buses before the end of July. Metro services, except Line 1, will shorten departure intervals by 2 to 3 minutes on average during rush hours in August.

Half the number of official vehicles will be restricted and companies institutions are encouraged to arrange buses to transport employees to work.
