Grand Park Hotel suits 'Spring City'

Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, is becoming a gateway city to Southeast Asia and South Asia with more visitors coming and star-rated hotels popping up.

"I fell in love with 'Spring City' when I arrived here in June," says Benny Chung, general manager of Grand Park Hotel Kunming. He has six years of experience working in China before he came to Kunming, which is called Spring City.

Chung, 50, has spent decades in hotel management. He had worked in InterContinental Hotels Group before joining Grand Park Hotel.

Located next to the beautiful Green Lake, Grand Park Hotel is close to the city's central business district with easy access to many of Yunnan's popular scenic spots.

With a great view of the city and Green Lake, the revolving lounge on the top floor is an ideal place for throwing a party and appreciating good wine.

"I like Kunming for its climate and scenery," Chung says. "There are many golf courses and direct flights, such as from Kunming to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan. It takes only just over three hours to get back home in Singapore."

"I believe that in the future, the number of incoming tourists to Kunming will increase quickly," Chung adds. "Kunming has numerous wonders to show to the world."

The hotel's business focuses on the soft environment, mainly in services.

"For good employees, we intend to send them to other hotels for training and learning, and to give higher salaries as well as space to display their talent," Chung says. "A happy staff can bring happiness to guests."

The hotel of 300 rooms has attracted celebrities and diplomats from the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, Australia and other countries.

It features different design styles to cater to guests from all over the world.

The first floor is designed in a Japanese architectural style. The lounge bar on the third floor has a modern touch and includes services, such as free breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails.

"The hotel restaurant serves a variety of food, from exquisite Cantonese cuisine to Yunnan dishes, and Western-style food has become a favorite for both locals and out-of-town visitors." Chung says.

The hotel is managed by Park Hotel Group, which is a Singapore-based luxury hotel brand with a presence on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Japan.
