Bamboo Weaving

Zhouzhuang has a long history in weaving bamboo articles. There emerged a thin bamboo strip processing center in the northern part of the town in the Qing dynasty, which produced utensils for production and daily life, such as baskets, dustpans, plaques, couches, barrels and mats.

Bamboo articles from Zhouzhuang are known for its close texture which is solid and durable. The bamboo craftworks, exquisite and practical, are very popular among tourists and facilitate the development of the local tourism industry.
