Doctors use corpses to fake accidents
A fake accident usually reminds us of "peng ci'er" in which a person pretends to be hit by a vehicle in order to get compensation, but this story tells us that some people can go much beyond that.
Three doctors in Lingbi county, Anhui province, allegedly colluded with some people to fake accidents with the dead bodies of cancer patients in order to get their insurance compensation, People's Daily Online reported on Wednesday.
One of the doctors reportedly supplied the information of some cancer patients who were terminally ill to a man who then bought personal accident insurance for them. After the patients died, they used their bodies to fake accidents and get the compensation. The other two doctors allegedly helped fake necessary procedures and files.
The suspects defrauded the insurance companies of more than 1.4 million yuan ($225,540) since 2011.
All the seven accused have been detained and the case is under investigation.
