The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened at 9 am in Beijing on Nov 8. Two thousand three hundred and nine delegates from all over the country attended the meeting.
The CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao made a key note report on behalf of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
He called on all the members of the CPC and the Chinese people to "march on the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and strive to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects."
