DPRK proposes unconditional dialogue with ROK

PYONGYANG -?The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has proposed unconditional dialogue with South Korea as soon as possible, according to official news agency KCNA.

According to the KCNA, the government, party and social institutions issued a combined statement on Wednesday proposing dialogue with South Korean authorities on the way to demolish misunderstanding and distrust as well as achieve peace and prosperity.

Confrontation could not solve the problem between north and south but would lead to military conflict and war. Only dialogue and negotiation could break the predicament. Thus the DPRK hopes to actively enter dialogue and negotiation with South Korean authorities, parties and social institutions, the report said.

No matter what they did in the past, the DPRK would like to meet them anywhere and any time as long as they would go forward with the DPRK. The DPRK would discuss all the issues, including the tension, peace, reconciliation and unification with them in the dialogue, it said.

The statement also proposed and end to slandering each other and provocative acts that deepened misunderstanding and distrust and incited confrontation and hostility in order to create an atmosphere for improving inter-Korean relations, the report added.

The KCNA said the statement underscored that improving inter-Korean relations, promote national reconciliation and unity and open a landmark phase of peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and negotiations was the consistent stand of the DPRK. It expected South Korea to "positively respond to their sincere proposal and appeal for weathering the crisis on the peninsula and between the north and the south".

The statement called on all the Koreans at home and abroad, all governments, political parties and organizations in the world, international organizations and progressive people that loved justice, truth and peace to extend warm support and solidarity to them.
