Ancient Chinese exercises shown in Bulgaria

SOFIA - The ancient Chinese Baduanjin exercises was demonstrated here on Sunday.

Prof. Alexander Alexiev, Bulgarian Director of the Confucius Institute in Sofia, told Xinhua he and prof. Gu Weiping, the new Chinese Director of this institute, have decided to introduce this gymnastics in Bulgaria.

The ancient Chinese exercises, unlike other systems that are prevalent in the country, is extremely simple and it represents a set of exercises that are routine hygiene, said Alexiev.

He said the theory of this system will be learned at the institute, and groups for practical exercises will be organized in three parks in Bulgaria.

"Ideally, this gymnastics should be practiced twice a day, like a person brushing his teeth: the same way one has to do exercises in order to be healthy," Alexiev said.

Kaloyan Simov from Kung Fu Center "Xuangui" told Xinhua Baduanjin consists of exercises that can be practiced by people of all ages from children to seniors.
