One of the highest-profile discussions in the film industry between China and US will take place in Los Angeles on Nov 3, when the Chinese American Film Festival (CAFF) Film Collaboration Discussion takes place.

James Su, president of CAFF and EDI Media, organizer of the film festival and discussion, released the list of essential attendees of the discussion to China Daily, stressing that the list represented the highest-profile filmmakers and studio heads in China and the US.

There will be a few new faces joining the discussion, such as La Peikang, chairman of China Film Group, and Yang Wenhong, senior vice-president of Shanghai Film Group.

The topic of the forum this year is the present and future of collaboration and co-production between US and China's film industries, said Su, who wants to establish a first-class platform for business executives and filmmakers to share their thoughts on cutting edge developments in the film industry and to explore new opportunities for collaborations between the two countries.

Su recognized the forum's significance. "This is not only a professional channel for filmmakers, producers and actors to communicate about filmmaking theory and technical innovation, but it's also a business forum for senior executives and business insiders to prospect the future of collaboration and co-production," he said.

"This forum is a meeting that you cannot miss, especially for businessmen and students interested in working in the film industry," said Su.

Tickets for the discussion are free to the public, Su said. But due to the limited number of seats, reservations will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

The forum is part of the 10th Chinese American Film Festival, an annual China-US exchange event with the support of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China (SARFT), the Chinese Consulates General in Los Angeles and San Francisco and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA).

CAFF, founded in Hollywood in 2005, is an independent organization. The main purpose of the film festival is to demonstrate to the world how effectively the Chinese and American cultures can join together through the media of film to create unique and outstanding work, according to CAFF.
