In this way, all members of international community need to build a global community of common destiny and shared interest, and support the development of other countries while striving to achieve self-development, so as to achieve prosperity for all.

In the end, he urged countries to take actions to ensure innovative development.

"Innovation is an inexhaustible driving force for sustained, inclusive and sustainable development," Wang said at the debate.

All countries therefore should look to innovation for ways to realize their potential for development, build stronger engines for growth, and hone their competitive edge to the maximum, he said.

At the Ministerial Round Table on "Where Next forthe Multilateral Trading System" following the general debate, Wang said that development is what Africa, UNCTAD 14 and the multilateral trading system has in common.

With the setting that the WTO's 10th Ministerial Conference last December secured the historic "Nairobi package" by delivering commitments on a series of trade initiatives and the recent G20 Trade Ministers Meeting in Shanghai achieved substantial outcomes, where theministers reached consensus on a wide range of issues related to the multilateral trading system, Wang made three points as to where next for the multilateral trading system.

First, the conclusion of the negotiations on the remaining Doha Development Agenda issues will benefit the developing members, and boost confidence by all in the multilateral trading system.

Second, the potential new issues should be those in favor of promoting the global economic growth and trade development in the 21st century.

Third, multilateral agreements should be open and inclusive, encouraging more members to join.
