Hotel Belvedere, which once stood on the edge of a Swiss mountain pass overlooking the Rhone Glacier, was abandoned after the glacier retreated almost 2km uphill. Recently, shocking "then and now "photos revealed the extent of the glaciers' retreat. Scientists have warned the remaining glaciers could disappear by the end of the century.
