China embracing world with open arms in new year

We sincerely value the speech delivered by Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 2020 New Year. The speech carried warmth, confidence and signs of embracing the world with open arms.

From my perspective as the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the People's Republic of China, and firsthand witness to the significant and ongoing laudable achievements of the modern Chinese renaissance, I found in the speech important signs highlighting further objectives and positive ambitions related to the development of major domestic and international projects that will help tackle poverty by creating opportunities for its citizens and international partners.

Furthermore, we see so many positive indicators and experience firsthand the benefits of China’s rapid path of continued economic progress on a daily basis, along with a real intention to fight poverty, and an honest commitment toward embracing the world through reforming the openness policy and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese president also spoke about fighting the undeniable challenges and difficulties currently acting as an obstacle to development and strategic planning. He encouraged the collective act of compatibility by all classes and layers of society to help implement these plans in order for the country to achieve more progress in all sectors.

We see hope delivered to everyone in this speech, especially by making the eradication of poverty as the cornerstone of development across all areas, with his promise to lift more than 10 million people out of poverty this year.

The strong underlying credibility was clear in the speech, backed up by all the achievements that have contributed to China's stability and success over the past year. Also, what the president mentioned regarding the Belt and Road Initiative reflects a new vision of globalization and humanitarian rapprochement all around the world. We also found great optimism in the speech about his expectations toward China's gross domestic product (GDP), which will reach nearly 100 trillion yuan, and that a person's share from it will exceed $10,000.

We appreciate the calls for solidarity and unity, and the tireless work required, especially after achieving such high levels of success in many different fields such as space, technology and the launch of free trade initiatives. The speech also carried a promise from China for its continued commitment to protecting world peace and promoting common developments all around the world.

In conclusion, we see the speech as a convergence of shared visions between the United Arab Emirates and the People's Republic of China, especially since there are many opportunities for future cooperation in numerous sectors such as space, technology, free trade, protecting world peace and promoting common development. These are the areas that will deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the People's Republic of China, announced in July 2019.
